Writing Styles

I have been asked to start a motorcycle blog several times, but I kept putting it off for the fear that people will notice that I cannot write.  No, no, seriously, you will eventually notice that my grammar skills are not up to par.  I actually graduated with an 8th grade English Language skills.

This is due to the fact that English is not my first language.  I was born with a moderate to serve hearing loss and I learned American Sign Language first.   Sadly, statistics actually show that most deaf people only graduate with a 4th grade level in English Language skills.  So how did I do better than average deaf person?  Well, my mother was an educator and she was adamant that I learn to function in a hearing world (bless her heart).  Through intense speech therapy, I could eventually speak well enough in order to attend a public school. So, I was thrown into the education system that was not well prepared to teach a student that had a learning disability due to her hearing loss.

Mind you, I could not learn English like other students who were English as a second language (ESL).  I could not be immersed into the language around me for I could not hear it well enough. For example, I cannot hear ‘s’, ‘sh’, ‘ed’, or any sibilant (hissing) sounds.  Therefore you will notice that there will be mistakes in my sentence structure, verb tenses, word omission, etc. in my writing styles.

So all I ask you to over look that and read the content of my blog instead. You will still get the jiff of what I’m trying to say.
