So, I have been in a blogging slump lately. I can you give you so many excuses why I haven’t had the time to work on my blog such as a new job, a new volunteer opportunity, and plus many other reasons. Honestly, there are no good excuses except that I just haven’t had the motivation to do so.
So when I came across FuzzyGalore‘s Facebook page announcing a Blogger Challenge by a fellow blogger, ToadMama, I was intrigued. After reviewing her challenge, I immediately got scared! Writing weekly was always a struggle for me and now I have to write daily to compete in this challenge, YIKES!
For those who know me, I tend to be quite stubborn and never back down from a challenge. Maybe this is the “kick in the ass” motivation I need to get my writing mojo back. So, here it goes, today challenge is: “State you most hope to visit this year”.
Ummm, actually, our big trip this year will be visiting Baja for two weeks which is not a “State” in the United States. However, our other plans for this year is to do a lot of exploring locally on the weekend. Our “State” is California and we live in area where we can actually ride an hour to ski in the mountain and then ride an hour to lay on the beach, all in the same day. That’s cool and all but that is not what excited us. Our passion is to find the places that are obscure and unusual.
This month, we are planning a weekend to visit local sites in Coachella Valley area such as the Salvation Mountains, Cabot’s Pueblo museum, and the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens. Hopefully, along the way, we will see some cool roadside attractions such as a Whispering Giant and a Muffler Man using our favorite apps, RoadsideAmerica.
Well, it’s time to go outside and explore locally. . .
A Widow's Ride 
I used RoadsideAmerica to map a route from Virginia to Kentucky. I ran out of time to find all the places I pinned but it was a hoot! I look forward to your adventures whenever you have time to share them 🙂

Yes the Roadside America does make the traveling more exciting when looking for hidden treasure.

The Blogging Slump hits us all now and then…I went full boar on mine for 6/7 years…then slowed down to a crawl, but have been trying to get back into it…like headache sometimes you go with the ebb and flow 🙂

Oooohh…now I gotta add the International Banana Museum to the list of places to visit on this trip. Thanks for the tip! I have been to Galetta Meadows several times but Mark hasn’t yet. I heard that they added a few more art pieces lately. I think I’ll make this another weekend trip where we can do Warner Springs, Julian and Borrego Springs. Plus all of the usual quirky places too.

I’ve been in a slump, too, in many ways. Not just writing on my blog, but reading others’ too. I am looking forward to getting to know you. I’m also a fan of roadside oddities. Baja sounds fabulous. And it’s probably a state in Mexico. 😉
Part of the fun of this challenge is seeing how folks interpret the prompts. Notice I didn’t say what US state you’d like to visit?

I didn’t notice. However, I almost did write about Baja thinking it was a State within Mexico. Funny thing about writing is that sometimes it comes out entirely different than you originally plan. I’m pleased on how it turned into about local area. I have heard too many times people complaining how they don’t have the time nor the money to travel worldwide. I’m alway telling them that we have an entire backyard right here in our own country to visit. Just make a day trip to see something to get out of the house :).
